Hillbilly Run Crew Weekly Recap 21-27 June 2021

Some mornings you wake up and think the more things change, the more they stay the same!  This week we wake up to increasing Covid restrictions and the uncertainty they create, which we’ve all been through before… We also wake up to Margie Hadley being back on top of the distance leaderboard for the Hillbilly Run Crew!  After a couple of big 200 mile races over the past two weeks, we get back to some more familiar training volumes and for Margie, that’s another huge week of banking kilometres.  Margie finished of the week with a total of 187.3km to take our top spot.  Behind in second place this week was Jodie Cumner.  Jodie logged 151.5km just one week out...

Hillbilly Run Crew Write-Up 14 June 2021

Another week of running the books for the Hillbilly Endurance Run Crew and there was certainly some impressive runs.  We saw some big distances and some big elevation this past week.  Those racing the Gold Coast Marathon will be getting close to their peak week while others preparing some some of the big trail ultras are really getting the work done in the hills.   For the first time in what seems like forever, there’s a new name at the top of the distance leaderboard.  Brad Glover has collected the top step with a huge 206km for the week.  A big chunk of the milage for Brad was collected as part of a crew at the Irrational SOUTH 200...

Hillbilly Run Crew Weekly Write-Up May 24 - 30 2021

Having a look at the weekly results and there was some big weeks across the board.  The top 20 all cracked the 100km mark and it took 54.5km to make the top 100!  So big training weeks happening everywhere was we are getting close to the bigger marathons in Australia. Margie Hadley topped the distance leaderboard for the week.  I’m sure none of us are shocked at that.  It is amazing that Margie continues to clock over 200kms week-in-week-out.  This past week was not exception and Margie finished with a total of 207.1km, simply incredibly strong and consistent high-volume training.   Our second place getting this week must feel a bit short changed after cracking the 200km mark and still...

Hillbilly Endurance Run Crew - Weekly Write up 31 May - 6 June 2021

It’s officially winter this week! Which means it’s marathon season and we kicked it off with the Brisbane marathon in Queensland.  Unfortunately the Victorian lockdown has caused disruption to some races and peoples race plans.  Fingers crossed it ends sooner rather than later and we can avoid a repeat of 2020.   Winter is a perfect time to train (that’s easy for me to say from Queensland) and we’re seeing the training volumes increase for people as we get closer to some of the bigger events of the year.  Last week over 20 runners cracked the ton with more than 100km for the week.  The benchmark for top 50 was 72.8km and top 100 required 53.5km or more to sneak...

Hillbilly Endurance Run Crew Weekly Write Up - 17-24 May 2021

So it was somewhat of a normal week compared to the week prior.  There were still a few events on throughout the country and none more challenging that the suite of events on at the West Mac Monster in the Northern Territory. Looking at the performances there and the brutality of the course and conditions we might need to review our top 5 toughest ultras list.  Great to see plenty of you taking it easy and enjoying the recovery this week after all the big ultras.  It wasn’t the case for everyone though with some big numbers across the board.  Margie Hadley topped the distance leaderboard again with another 200km+ week.  Margie totalled 208.3km for the week and just keeps...
